Lyssia Porter

Hi! My name is Lyssia and I am an EMDR trained dual AMFT & APCC with over 2400 hours of experience working with individuals across the life span from children to older adults. I'm a Bay Area native, and I've been a member of the community for many years. I currently specialize in working with those aged 14 and older through adulthood. I have worked with various organizations, including Kaiser Permanente, local and regional counseling centers and high schools, and received extensive training in evidence based practices supporting a wide variety of diagnoses, challenges, and concerns. I specialize in working with those struggling with various types of anxiety, depression, single incident or complex trauma and those managing relationship challenges and undergoing major life changes and challenges.

My approach to therapy is warm, non-judgemental and collaborative as I aim to support each individual striving to make positive changes in their lives and move through difficult times. With a belief that internal resources are already within each person, I focus on cultivating and strengthening what is innately in each person to support them in realizing their goal for themselves, their families, and their lives.

I draw from a number of evidence-based approaches to support, educate, and empower the individual needs of my clients, including EMDR, CBT, DBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.  I am passionate about blending the latest neuroscience with empirically based and well-researched theories to support my clients. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach, but that with committed and experienced professional support, it is possible to move forward and to heal.

Whether you are looking for solution focused, short term therapy to manage more acute concerns or more extensive therapy for complex problems or symptoms, we will work together to find your path towards wholeness.
